China Sent its First Communications Satellite

On April 8, 1984 China launched its first experimental geostationary orbit communications satellite DongfanghongII (Global Security 2018). This has opened a new chapter for China’s telecommunication industry and has laid the foundation for China's development of satellite television. It helped China to improve its broadcast quality and to enrich the diversity of its television programs. The development of satellite television has played an important role in the rapid development of China's television industry during the last two decades of the twentieth century.
