Three Major Chinese Web Portals Established

In the initial stage of China's Internet development, web portals were almost synonymous with the Internet. The year 1998 witnessed the establishment of the three major portals, namely Sina, Sohu, and Netease, which not only represented the most important and successful business models of the Internet in China from the late 19th and early 20th century, but also acted as the backbone to drive the social influence of the Internet.
